Alec Baldwin Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter in Rust Case

Source link Alec Baldwin, an American actor, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, following an incident that occurred with actor John Rust in Balwin’s home on April 25th.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has accused Baldwin of causing Rust’s death after a “physical altercation” between the pair. The actor was booked at a local jail, and released after meeting the required bail amount set by the court.

Law enforcement authorities believe that the altercation was initially just a verbal dispute between Baldwin and Rust, however, it quickly escalated into a physical altercation. According to reports, Baldwin then threw Rust to the ground, causing him to sustain severe injuries. John Rust was rushed to hospital, where he later passed away.

The District Attorney has brought charges which include the charge of involuntary manslaughter, a felony that carries a punishment of up to four years in prison, as well as a fine of up to $10,000.

Alec Baldwin is known for his leading roles in films such as The Aviator and Glengarry Glen Ross. His attorneys released a statement following the charge, saying: “We dispute the charges brought against Baldwin and will push for his exoneration in the court of law”.

The court has set the next hearing for 31 August, and it is expected that the case will begin sometime in the new year. It remains to be seen how the case continues to unfold, and how the court will decide on this matter.
