Source link On Thursday, Austin Butler has finally made a public statement attributing an iconic movie role for Vanessa Hudgens.

The actor has recently been casted for the leading role in the upcoming biopic about legendary singer Elvis Presley, and he has finally credited his ex-girlfriend for coming up with the idea. On Instagram, Butler posted saying: “She had the vision. Before anyone else. She saw it. She believed. Thank you.”

The 30-year-old actor has just been casted for the role in the much-anticipated movie about the late singer’s life, from his life before stardom to his time as a global musical and cultural icon.

When news broke that Butler would star as the “Hound Dog” crooner in the film, Hudgens’s rep confirmed to Today that the idea initially came from the former High School Musical star who, according to Today, “had long been wishing” for her ex to be cast as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The movie is set to be produced by Baz Luhrmann, known for his past films Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby. The movie will be a “celebratory story of Presley’s rise to stardom,” and will explore the musician’s “complex layers and inner vulnerability,” according to Luhrmann.

Butler and Hudgens have been dating for nearly nine years before their split in January of this year. Despite their breakup, the actress is thrilled for her ex-boyfriend’s new role, with a source close to Hudgens telling Today she “couldn’t be happier and is thrilled at the opportunity Austin has been given.”

All in all, Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens’ relationship may have ended, but the former couple can still enjoy the admiration of fans of Elvis Presley, and the fascinating role being brought to life by Butler.
