Source link Immune systems are essential in protecting the body from illness and disease. Recent scientific advancements in the field of immunity have revealed new insights into how our bodies fight off dangerous pathogens.
Recently, ScienceDaily reported on a new study that investigated how the body’s immune system responds to pathogens. The study revealed that the immune system will recognize a threat by producing special proteins called antibodies. These antibodies target and attack specific cells within the body that are associated with the pathogens.
In addition, ScienceDaily reported on a new breakthrough in immune therapy. Researchers found that special cells, called T Cells, can be harvested from healthy tissue, then grown in a laboratory setting. These cells can then be used select specifically fight against cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells alone. This breakthrough could revolutionize chemotherapy treatments and help people with various forms of cancer.
The study on the immune system also revealed a new way to improve the body’s ability to fight off foreign invaders. Researchers found that simply increasing the amount of certain beneficial bacteria, such as probiotics, in the gut can lead to an increase in the body’s level of natural immunity.
Overall, these recent findings illustrate just how complicated and intricate the body’s immune system truly is. With continued research and advancements, these new discoveries may lead to more effective treatments for a number of debilitating illnesses.
