Marie Kondo Confesses She Has "Kind of Given Up" on Tidying Up

Marie Kondo details her messy home in a recent interview with The Washington Post. Find out how the Netflix star is sparking joy outside of the world of decluttering!

Source link Marie Kondo, the Japanese organizing consultant and star of Netflix’s hit series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, recently revealed in an NPR interview that she has given up on her own tidying up methods.

Kondo introduced her signature “KonMari” organizing and tidying method, which can help individuals to declutter and organize their space, in the 2011 book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Since then, she has gained a worldwide fan base that has been inspired to clear their space of unnecessary items.

In the NPR interview, Kondo admitted that she has “kind of given up on tidying” her two-bedroom home in Tokyo. She revealed that while she once had very few possessions, it is impossible for her to limit the number of items she owns, since she must keep books and other items for her business and her family. Kondo added that her family of three needs more space than what could be provided by a two-bedroom apartment in a big city.

Nevertheless, Kondo emphasized that her tidying methods are important for her life and should not be completely abandoned. She said, “the kind of tidying that I talk about is more about the attitude that you hold when tidying. And I have never given up on that.”

Kondo’s confession has resonated with many people who are struggling to stay on track with their organizing habits. This confession shows that while the KonMari Method provides valuable tips and advice, it is still up to individuals to make their own decisions when it comes to tidying up and organizing their home.
