Source link Reese Witherspoon is stirring up fans’ excitement with news that screenwriter and producer Mindy Kaling is still hard at work developing Legally Blonde 3.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is reprising her role as Elle Woods in the anticipated sequel of the 2001 comedy, revealed on Instagram this week that the script for Legally Blonde 3 is being eagerly crafted.

The original Legally Blonde starred Witherspoon as the bubbly, valley-girl-esque Elle Woods, and followed her as she navigated Harvard Law School and won over her conservative professors. The sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (2003) saw Elle move to Washington D.C. to fight for animal rights and secure their civil rights.

Witherspoon shared a selfie of herself with Kaling on Instagram, with the caption “Great catching up with @mindykaling – excited to see her creativity and brains at work as she writes Legally Blonde 3!”

The remake of the popular movie trilogy is being produced by Witherspoon and her company Hello Sunshine, alongside founding producing partners Lauren Levy Neustadter and Kerry Washington.

Kaling, who is best known for her starring roles in The Mindy Project and The Office, is reported to be writing the script for the third movie, along with Dan Goor (co-creator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

This news has clearly resonated with fans, due to the post already garnering almost two million likes and thousands of comments from excited viewers eager to see the return of Elle Woods and her stylish ensembles.

The release date for Legally Blonde 3 is yet to be announced, but fans can rest assured that the writing is in safe hands with Kaling hard at work.
