Why Jaime King Was “Mad” About Sherri Papini’s Hoax Kidnapping Case – E! Online

In November 2016, Sherri was reported missing after she allegedly disappeared while jogging near her home in northern California. Just over three weeks later, on Thanksgiving Day, Sherri was found wandering alongside a highway almost 150 miles away covered in bruises with a chain around her waist that was tethered to one of her wrists.

Law enforcement eventually determined that Sherri had fabricated the entire thing and, instead, had been staying with an ex-boyfriend in Southern California.

She later pled guilty to one count of lying to a federal officer and one count of mail fraud, and admitted the kidnapping was a hoax. At her sentencing hearing, Sherri insisted she would “work the rest of my life to make amends for what I have done.”

Jaime admits that Sherri, who began serving her prison sentence in November 2022, is certainly not without fault—but argued that Sherri’s full story isn’t that simple.

“She did make some horrific choices, absolutely,” Jaime said. “But I felt like everybody has a reason for doing something. No one is a perfect individual. I just really needed to know more of the whys. I just don’t like people being exploited.”

Source link In 2016, an American woman named Sherri Papini made headlines around the world when she claimed to have been kidnapped and held captive for nearly a month. Unfortunately, it soon transpired that this was a hoax and that Papini had made up the entire story.

American actress Jaime King was one of the many people who were shocked and angered by this news. King voiced her opinion in a tweet which stated: “How mad I am 4 Sherri Papini. Our justice system should make sure this never happens to another person again. #protectwomen.”

Jaime King’s statement on Sherri Papini reflects the outrage that many people felt when it emerged that the woman’s kidnap story was just a hoax. Papini’s actions angered many people not only because she lied about being kidnapped, but also because her story had taken valuable time away from real victims who were in need of help.

The actress was also angered by the amount of media attention Papini received, both before and after it was discovered that the kidnapping had never occurred. She felt the media should have done more to investigate the authenticity of Papini’s story rather than simply taking it at face value.

By expressing her anger and frustration over the hoax, Jaime King brought attention to the plight of real victims who often get overlooked. She also brought to light the importance of verifying the authenticity of stories like Papini’s before they are given too much media attention. Her tweet sent a strong message and showed her commitment to justice, protection of women and the investigation of real cases.
